The Friends of Hartley Countryside

The Friends of Hartley Countryside were founded in 2000, the successor to the Parish Council's advisory group. One of our aims is to preserve and enhance what remains of Hartley's rural heritage. But our members also play a full part in the local community. Our achievements to date include:

  • Organising the village survey on Northfield - the first full scale attempt to find out what local people want.
  • Taking part in work at Rectory Meadow
  • Winning campaign for more open local government.
  • Successful campaign for footpath from Caxton Close to Gorsewood Road (2004-7)
  • Raising over £2,300 between the following charities:
  • Hartley Scouts
  • Wellfield and Hartley Residents Association
  • Fawkham and Ash Archaeological Group
  • Age Conern
  • New Ash Green Jubilee Charity
  • Guide Dogs for the Blind
  • Kent Wildlife Trust
