This is a summary of a conveyance held in the Centre for Kentish Studies at Maidstone. In 1646 Hartley Cottage would have been a fairly new buiding, created out of the Fairby Farm estate. For the land without a building is mentioned in an earlier deed from 1604. A month later Thomas bought Forge Cottage, further up Ash Road, near the Black Lion (Conveyance dated 11 November 1646). Thomas passed the house onto his relative John, and they were both parties to the sale of the same in 1658 to Thomas Young of Fairby. Thomas died in 1673 (click here to view will) Land in conveyance shown in yellow. |
