Will of Sarah Kidder, widow (1741)
In the name of God, Amen. I Sarah Kidder, relict of Edward Kidder, late of the parish of Hartley in the county of Kent (husbandman), being sick and weak in body, but of perfect sound mind, judgement and memory, thanks be therefore to Almighty God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following:
And first and principally I commit my soul into the hands of God that gave it, and my body to be decently interred at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named. And for my worldly estate, I give, devise and bequeath as follows (that is to say):
I give, devise and bequeath to my son Edward Kidder of Hartley aforesaid... husbandman, the sum of £10 of lawful money of Great Britain, to be paid by my executors, or their heirs, executors or administrators in 12 months after my decease.
I give, devise and bequeath to Richard Hawks of Dartford... labourer, the sum of £5 to be paid in 12 months after my decease by my executors, their heirs, executors or administrators. I give, devise and bequeath to my granddaughter Mary, dauther of the beforementioned Richarde Hawks the sum of £10, to be paid by my executors, their heirs, executors or administrators to the said Mary Hawks, when she shall arrive to the full age of twenty and one years
I give, devise and bequeath to my daughter Mary Kidder, spinster, all my houssehold goods, being the furniture of one room at Mr Edward Chapman's at Grinstead Green in the parish of Stone....
All the residue and remainder of my chattels and estate whatsoever, as bills, bonds, securities for money and ready money (after payment of my just debts, funeral expenses and legacies being made), I give, devise and bequeath to my loving daughters Sarah, the wife of William Goodwin of Hartley.... and Mary Kidder, spinster, to be equally divided between them, share and share alike....
Lastly, I constitute, nominate and appoint my forementioned daughters Sarah, the wife of William Goodwin of Hartley aforesaid and Mary Kidder, spinster, to be executors to this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made and do hearby declare this to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I hte said Sarah Kidder, the said testatrix, have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of February in the year 1740 (=1741).

Proved at Rochester by Mary Kidder with power reserved to Sarah Goodwin, 17 August 1741.
Note: Testatrix was late of Hartley in Kent, but died at St Thomas's Hospital in Southwarke in Surrey. Widow deceased 25th April last.
