Michael Alexander of Longfield, yeoman,1627
He leaves his lands at Longfield to one of his daughters Elizabeth. Elizabeth was christened at Nurstead on 20 March 1608, as was Mary on 15 March 1612. As his will stipulated, Michael was buried at Nurstead on 2 November 1627, he had married Jane Middleton there in June 1604, which may be the source of his Longfield lands. Jane didn't outlive him for long, she was buried at Nurstead on 24 January 1628.
There is an Elizabeth Alexander who married Richard Tappe of Southfleet at Longfield on 24 June 1648, and was buried at Southfleet 18 January 1667. However as the couple continued to have children up to 1660, it seems unlikely that it is this Elizabeth, more likely her cousin Elizabeth, born to her uncle Roger at Southfleet in 1619.
“In the name of God, Amen. I Michael Alexander of Longefield in the county of Kent, yeoman, being weak of body but of perfect memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following:
First I bequeath my soul into the hands of God that [?????] me, and my body to be buried at the discretion of mine executrix [‘at Nursted’ is written above].
Item concerning my lands and goods, I give and bequeath in manner and form following:
First I give my said lands unto my well beloved wife Jane Alexander during her natural life, and after her decease, I give my said lands unto my two daughters, Elizabeth and Marie in manner and form following. That is to say, I give unot my daughter Elizabeth Alexander all my lands in Longefyelde and unto her heirs forever. Likewise I give unto my daughter Marie Alexander all that my lands in Ludsdowne in the county of Kent and to her heirs forever. Proved always that the said Marye my daughter shall pay unto her sister Elizabeth out of her portion of lands, being the better moiety, the sum of £10 of good current monies of England within the space of one year after possession of her said lands. And for default of payment of the said monies, it shall be lawful for the said Elizabeth to enter, possess and enjoy the said lands in Ludsdowne [Luddesdown] until she have take up so much profit out of the said lands [??????] amount to the value of £10, with the arrears thereof provided. Likewise if both my said daughter Elizabeth and Marye shall happen to die without heirs of their bodies lawfully begotten, then my will and pleasure is that my beloved brother Roger Alexander shall have and enjoy all my said lands to himself and unto his heirs forever.
Item: I give unto my said daughters either of them 12 pence a piece, to be paid within the space of 5 months after my decease.
The rest of my goods and chattels I give unto my beloved wife Jane Alexander, whom I ordain and make sole executrix of this my last will and testament.
Given the two and twentieth day of October 1627 in the year of governing Lord Charles by the grace of God of England, Scotland, France and Ireland King, defender of the faith etc the third.”
